International Tomato Sequencing Project Home
The International Tomato Genome Sequencing Project aims to
sequence the gene-rich euchromatic portions of the twelve tomato
chromosomes. An international consortium of sequencing centers is
performing most of the genomic sequencing. Each chromosome is
assigned to a sequencing center. The genome is split into manageable
chunks known as BACs (Bacterial Artificial Chromosomes), which are
sequenced separately, then assembled together.
